Head Coach - 1 position

The Greenmeadow Community Association is home to the Marlins, a community based summer swim team made up of member children ages 4-18, who participate in the Junipero Serra Swim League. The Marlins seek an energetic, sociable, and responsible Head Swim Coach to lead our team in the upcoming 2022 JSSL season (April-July).

The Head Coach would be responsible for leading the team in all aspects – from the mentorship of the coaching staff, to providing technical guidance to the swimmers, to developing practice plans and providing leadership during swim meets. Ideally, the Head Coach would continue coaching at the club on an ongoing basis through our swim conditioning program and private swim lessons offered throughout the year (August-March).

Assistant Coach - 1-2 positions

GMCA Assistant Coaches are responsible for assisting the Head Coach with all of the functions of the summer swim team and overall operation of the Greenmeadow Marlins for the 2022 summer swim season.

Position runs from mid-April to mid-July.

Weekday practices/workouts are offered in the mornings and afternoons into early evenings. The Junipero Serra Swim League (JSSL) is comprised of six teams from the south Peninsula: Greenmeadow Marlins (Palo Alto), Eichler (Palo Alto), Cupertino Hills, Brookside, & Saratoga Woods (Saratoga). The Marlins swim team is part of Greenmeadow, a family-oriented Community Association and swim club located in a historic Eichler neighborhood located in south Palo Alto, CA. We usually have approximately 100 swimmers aged 4-18 of all abilities as part of our summer league program.

Camp Leaders - 1-2 positions

Under the direct supervision of the Program Coordinator Camp Leaders supervise and/or facilitate curriculum activities or areas to provide positive learning experiences for participants enrolled in GMCA Camp programs.

A Camp Leader is expected to exercise good judgment and initiative, and provide supervision of children with safety, common sense and understanding.

Summer Swim Instructors - about 5 positions

A GMCA Swim Instructor is primarily responsible for teaching Private and Semi-Private swimming lessons to children and adults. Our Instructors are responsible for progressing their students at the quickest rate possible while ensuring that the students are having fun and enjoying themselves in the lessons.

Junior Coaches – 4-5 positions

GMCA Junior Coaches are responsible for supporting the Assistants and Head Swim Coaches during team practices and swim meets, offering young swimmers tips to improve their swim strokes, and helping the coaches conduct these activities in a safe manner.

Junior Coaches will also act in a leadership/mentoring role to foster young swimmer growth, demonstrate good sportsmanship and strengthen the sense of community among our younger GMCA swimmers.

Position runs from mid-April to mid-July. Weekday practices/workouts are offered in the mornings and afternoons into early evenings.

Camp Counselors – 3-4 positions

Reporting to the Program Coordinator and Camp Leaders, Camp Counselors are responsible for leading children in our GMCA camp programs. Camp Counselors are role models for camp participants. Our ideal candidates exemplify integrity, commitment, respect, responsibility, and cooperation.

Lifeguard – 5-6 positions

Lifeguards are responsible for the safety of the members and visitors at the GMCA pool. These positions require interacting with clients, parents and their children, and the club members. This includes problem-solving, information and guidance, and top-notch, professional communication. Lifeguards should be able to work in a cooperative team environment. Position requires responsible, consistent, focused, hard-working, and attentive individuals.
